My friends all suck.
This is what I have decided. Not my on-lne friends. And not Will and Paula here in town. But the rest of my so-called friends and soon-to-be former coworkers suck.
I invited ten people or so to my own "I'm Quitting" party last night, seven of whom did not have to work, and all of whom said they'd be there. Those that had to work are excused from this part of the diatribe, because it was a busy night, and even those that signed the list didn't get out until after three (though we were still in the casino, as I made certain to tell them all, and only one stopped in for two minutes).
Anyway, all 7 bailed. And when I sent texts to each asking if they were still coming, I got a reply from only one person, who said he couldn't make it and he was sorry. The other six sent no replies.
So, with the absence of the non-workers, I waited for Will and Paula (and others, but they were the two main ones) to get out. Because of the business in the casino, only Will was able to get out at 9. (Sidebar: And I had to talk him into signing early--he and Paula both--because they thought they could sign later and maybe work till midnight. I had to convince them that there was no way they'd get out on a Friday night if they didn't sign right away. And I was right. Paula signed as number three and was only able to join us at three o'clock.) So it was Will and me in the Nine Fine Irishmen (the best pub in the world) till it closed at 2:45.
Um, now, I'm not saying it wasn't fun, but he and I have done that a jillion times. In no way was last night different or special from any other time.
Paula met us in a different bar after the pub closed, and Chris stopped in for a few minutes to get my number and say goodbye. And that was it. The other coworkers I informed of the event never showed.
Nice to know I'm loved. Thank Merlin tonight is my last night working with those fuckers.
Venetian/Palazzo, here I come!

Date: 2007-12-09 02:10 am (UTC)Good luck at the new one! (I didn't even know you were trying for a new one. The Venetian?! WHOAH!) Does the move have anything to do with bitch lady?
Anyways, I'm disappearing to go pretend to do something to hide from dad. *huggles*

Date: 2007-12-09 01:06 pm (UTC)As for you being broke, well, let's just say that perhaps not this St Patrick's day (cause I don't know about time off and all that), but for every one there after, I should be able to get you out here for NFI fun.
The move has nothing to do with Bitchface. The venetian is opening up a new hotel/casino adjacent to the old one, called the Palazzo. 3000 people applied 1800 got auditions, and 600 were hired. I'll be working in the new hotel starting on the 18th for orientation, and making double what I got at NYNY. The trick is to keep the job though. They ALWAYS overhire, so I have to be on my best behaviour for at least 6 months.
So I just finished my very last night at NYNY, and have 10 days off till my new job. I was only supposed to have 3 days off, but the opening was pushed back. Finances will be tight, but when my first check in Jan comes through, I'm sure I'll be ok. I'm thinking 3000 at least.

Date: 2007-12-09 07:53 pm (UTC)As for sharing a room with mom, she and dad have been having problems. It's gotten pretty bad. A year ago September, Mom moved into my old room. She's been there since. They've had ups and downs, but so far, it's just... I don't know. I feel like everything is hanging on by a thread at this point. Around this time last year, I was trying to figure out how I was going to be able to get Blake, Mom, the 3 dogs, their 2 cats in my house with me and Jake. However, I don't THINK that's going to end up having to happen. But, there are good times and really bad ones. Things really got rocky around Thanksgiving this year.
We'll figure something out about St. Patrick's in the future! This year, I definitely can't afford it, with everything else I'm trying to do.
Did you hear I applied for a teacher thing to go to Japan for a month? I'll find out in late March/April if I get to go or not. Cross your fingers for me. They take 4 people from each state, but it's still really hard to get into.
Congrats on the new job! Out of all those people, it's awesome that you got in! But then again, you are really really good at that! Making double!?!?! That's insane! And I'm glad you won't be working with bitchface and any of those other icky people who blew you off. Screw them. hehe And I don't think you'll have any problems staying put. Just do your best and have fun and be you and you'll be great! *huggles*
10 days off... I'm looking forward to 10 days off. (I hoping right now that tomorrow will be a snow day, as it's iced over pretty bad today.)

Date: 2007-12-09 08:24 pm (UTC)I remember the separate rooms thing from last year, but didn't click it with the current situation. I follow now though! See? I catch on quick! Lol. I know it's tough and all, and please remember you can always call me. You haven't been on-line, like, ever. But I know I have bizarre hours anyway.
St. Patrick's tradiions will resume in one year, four months time. It's not even worth it this year because the 90 day probation period won't be up, and I can't ask for days off or sign the list. Part of that whole good impression dealy. Oh! And you know how you always got screwed up and thought my days off were Wed & Thu instead of Thu & Fri? Well, now they WILL be Wed & Thu. Which is a pretty sweet deal. I didn't ask for my choice of shift, but I got Swing anyway, and two days off in the middle of the week. A lot of people would kill for that. I don't know if it was randomly assigned or if I just really kicked ass on my ausition. It's probably the former, but I'm choosing to believe the latter. ;)
My fingers are definitely crossed for you and Japan! When you go (and you will go, because you are awesome like that), I can sing my Big Bird in Japan song! And don't forget, when people say "Ohio" to you, they aren't American tourists from Columbus.
And here's hoping for crappy weather tomorrow!
